VMEcomm20 [Metacomp, Inc.]

VMEcomm20 supplies the central processing power, onboard memory, and I/Othroughput necessary to satisfy a variety of data communicationsapplications. It incorporates a Motorola 68020 32-bit microprocessor,operating at 16.7 MHz, to provide high-level communications processingfor the VMEbus system, relieving the host processor of the overheadassociated with complex serial communications protocols. VMEcomm20features include the following:

4 MB DRAM, tri-ported between onboard CPU, VMEbus, and the DMA bus.
Diagnostic and status LEDs.
High-speed 16-bit DMA bus -- supports I/O up to 6 MB per second.
Two, four or eight multiprotocol serial ports with user- or software-

selectable electrical interface standards on each channel programmablefor async, bisync, or bitsync protocols.

Third-party protocol software (X.25, SNA, Frame Relay, HDLC).
